Characteristics

Composition available :
The process allows the growth of nanowires composed of, for example,
- cubic silicon carbide (Beta-SiC)
- trigonal silicon nitride (Alpha-Si3N4)
- mixed Beta-Sic and Alpha-Si3N
4
The long nanorods produced are highly pure because no catalyst is needed. Moreover, no residual particle appears during process.

With this process, it is possible to add a multi-layer coating around the nanofibre, forming a nanocable. This coating can be composed of carbon, silicon, boron nitride (BN), SiO2..

Size of the nanowires : (controlled during process)
- Diameter from 20 nm to 100 nm
- Length up to 500 µm (very long fibers - non toxic)
The nanowires are produced in felt, easily handleable.

Characteristics of the nanofiber :
- High Young Modulus (> 500 GPa)
- Thermally and chemically stable
- Compatible with high power and high frequency applications (under severe conditions)
- Low density
- Many colors available in the visible spectrum
